I’m burning Yankee Candle’s Under the Palms scented large jar candle and it’s a single degree above freezing outside this morning. I honestly don’t mind winter but you know sometimes it can be good for the soul to ponder on the warmer months. I guess this is my way of doing that and fighting back winter, if only for a brief few hours.
Under the Palms is a pretty good candle for it as well. The main scent I’m picking up from the candle is a leafy green (to match it’s appropriately leafy green wax color) with a hint of coconut aroma. The climate here in North Carolina isn’t conducive to supporting palm trees but I’m over here right now day dreaming of laying in a hammock while on vacation a little further down south on the beaches of Hilton Head, SC, underneath a pair of palm trees. Which I was actually able to do last September!
Realistically though I’m not sure if this candle literally smells like palms trees or not. Probably because I honestly don’t have any idea what palm trees smell like. They don’t give off any odors that I can remember.. perhaps I should someday smell some palm leaves up close? Hmmm.. will put that on my bucket list! I can say that the scent of this candle definitely has a summer vibe and is extremely soothing to me.
The scent throw on this bad boy is awesome. Especially after experiencing the very crappy and disappointing Winter Woods scent NON-throw. This candle has no problems filling up the entirety of my downstairs with it’s tranquil yet lively aromas. The scent throw is constant as well. It stays on ya for the duration of the burn which I love. The continuous deluge of Under the Palm’s relaxing aura surrounding me makes it nearly effortless to rid myself of stresses and anxiety.
Additionally, the candle burns fantastically. It doesn’t soot so long as the wick is trimmed properly and easily creates a full and deep wax pool. After long periods of burning this candle the wick will develop little “fragrance” balls at the top of the wick, but you can safely just trim those off before lighting it again.
This is absolutely a candle I would purchase again and one that I would highly recommend to my readers. Pick one of these up soon, light it up, and chill out, folks! Below are some of the Yankee Candle Under the Palms products sold through Amazon, but for full transparency I’ve only tried this scent out in the large jar form which is what this review was based on.
